This morning, fueled by the espresso I prepared (two shots!), I made my way upstairs to my cozy office, ready to tackle a slew of post-release challenges that awaited me. My mission? To give the website a much-needed facelift. It was time for a major update, and the pressure was on.
The foremost task on my to-do list was setting up an online "store." Not just any store, mind you, but a virtual one where readers may purchase hard copies of my book and effortlessly download it directly. Once hard copies appear, I'll have those, too. As I embarked on this journey, I couldn't help but marvel at the intricacies of the digital realm and was amazed by the patience I mustered.
Meanwhile, the Amazon review process is still operating on its own clock. The print version of my book, which relies on the print-on-demand model, appeared on their site as "out of stock" or something along those lines. But it is print-on-demand! What? Frustration mounted upon frustration, but I was determined not to let it deter me. A relentless spirit is essential.
To alleviate the situation, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I promptly ordered copies of my book, which I will sell through my website. Initially, setting up the online storefront seemed like a straightforward endeavor. Still, reality hit me like a freight train as I delved deeper into it. I now understand why some authors delegate their marketing efforts to "others." It almost felt like this meticulous process erased the sweat and tears I'd poured into crafting my book. Yet, I remained steadfast in my resolve.
Please pardon the occasional snafus and inundation of emails during this phase. Your patience means the world to me as I embark on this exhilarating, if not frustrating, journey.
Fortunately, this tumultuous journey has a silver lining—I've got a sequel in the works. I'll be diving headfirst into its world before you know it. Oh, and before I sign off, remember when I mentioned character sketches? Well, I'll be sharing those soon, offering you an exclusive glimpse into the vivid personalities that inhabit "The Last Independence Day." Stay tuned for more adventures, my dear readers!
