Why hire me as your mediator?
With over 30 years of experience in civil and criminal trial law, I have represented clients in various areas, including personal injury, mass tort pharmaceutical litigation, probate and family law, as well as criminal cases in both state and federal courts across the United States. My work has involved high-stakes criminal defense, including a death penalty case, which deepened my appreciation for the rigor of our legal system and its impact on society. This diverse background has fostered a keen interest in the dynamics and potential outcomes of jury trials, the effects of the rules of evidence and procedure on case presentations, and the inherent uncertainty of a trial.

Since completing my mediation training in the late 1990s, I have helped hundreds of civil plaintiffs as an advocate during mediation, reinforcing my belief in its effectiveness for resolving disputes. As a mediator, I have developed a pragmatic approach guided by the evidence of each case, which can signal a range of potential outcomes that translate most often into financial terms—one party pays, and the other collects. Underneath all that, it is the mediator's job to find out what is truly driving the case and to see if that expectation can be understood.

My experience representing civil plaintiffs prepares me to effectively serve as a paid neutral because I understand the many challenges they face when considering a financial settlement. This background allows me to facilitate productive dialogue to transform what often starts as an intensely personal decision into a business decision based on evidence. All too often, settlement decisions are driven by an emotional pursuit of an uncertain verdict when the ultimate resolution comes down to money.

By choosing me as your mediator, you engage a professional who combines extensive trial experience with a balanced perspective and a steadfast commitment to facilitating a practical, evidence-based resolution that avoids risk and uncertainty.
